LDF - 2008 RESULTS


Here are the final results of the Junior Week of the Festival :

Winning group (“The Michael Caine Drama Award”) : Therfield School – “The Trial” by Steven Berkoff.

Runners-Up : The Croft Drama Group – “Bouncers – The Remix” by John Godber.

Nomination for the Richard Houghton Award (Junior) : Harlequin Youth Theatre (for excellent warm-up routines, both physical and vocal. Excellent organisation and discipline in both acting and technical areas) ; Ewell Castle School (for excellent musicianship by both the violin and trumpet players. Good preparation for both solos and excellent creation of the right atmosphere by the violinist at the beginning of the play) ; Akemi Youth Theatre Group (for excellent creativity and attention to detail throughout their production).
Winners : Harlequin Youth Theatre.

New Writing Award : Emily Stewart – “The Third Expedition” for Akemi Youth Theatre Group.

Nominations for Best Junior Actress : Jessica Stent as Tricia in “School Journey to the Centre of the Earth” by Applause Youth Theatre ; Louise Spaven in “Two” by Fullbrook School ; Loren Morley as Alex in “As We Forgive Those” by Brooklands Theatre Company.
Winner : Jessica Stent.

Special Mentions : Ally Louise Van Helsing as Hera in “Pandora’s Box” by Harlequin Youth Theatre ; Emily Stewart as The Doctor & Margaret in “Woyzeck” by St Andrew’s School ; Louise McArthur as Assistant Manager in “The Trial” by Therfield School.

Nominations for Best Junior Actor : Josh Cohen as Singer in “Singer” by Ewell Castle School ; Jonathan Lloyd as Joseph K in “The Trial” by Therfield School ; Joe Newton as Huld in “The Trial” by Therfield School.
Winner : Jonathan Lloyd.

Special Mentions : Alec Mills as Charlotte O’Malley & Cpt. Charles Hudson in “The Third Expedition” by Akemi Youth Theatre Group ; Jack Magee as Woyzeck in “Woyzeck” by St Andrews School ; Danial Garel as James McLoughlin in “Pressures” by Enter Stage Right ;Stuart Tomkins as Dennis in “One for the Road” by Howard of Effingham School.

Winning Group (“The Sir Michael Caine Drama Award”) : The Guildburys– “A Dog’s Life” by Pam Valentine.

Runners-Up : Byfleet Players with “May We? Oui, Mais....” by Wilf Hashimi.

Nominations for the “Richard Houghton Award” : The Freewheelers Theatre Company (for creative use of technology, stage organisation and discipline) ; Ashtead Players (for read-in at very short notice and creative stage setting) ; Churt Amateur Dramatic Society (for stage setting creating the atmosphere between the ‘dead’ and the ‘living’ & make up and costumes).
Winner: Freewheelers Theatre Company.

Nominations for the New Writing Award (alphabetically) : Wilf Hashimi – “May We? Oui, Mais...” for Byfleet Players ; Anni Rhodes – “Best Before End” for Head2Head Theatre Company ; Andrew Smith – “As We Forgive Those” for Brooklands Theatre Group.
Winner: Wilf Hashimi.

Nominations for Best Senior Actress (alphabetically) : Kate Brazier as Dolly in “May We? Oui, Mais...” by Byfleet Players ; Bronwen Mills as Evadne in “A Respectable Funeral” by Heath Players ; Sharon Radburn as Carol in “Best Before End” by Head2Head Theatre Company ; Viv Raeside as Alice Fletcher in “Fate’s Thread” by Churt (CADS).

Nominations for Best Senior Actor (alphabetically) : Tony Grant as Fritz, a tough, rough German Shepherd in “A Dog’s Life” by The Guildburys ; Roy Selfe as White in “Obituaries” by Runnymede Drama Group ; Wally Walters as Apcar in “Obituaries” by Runnymede Drama Group ; Bob Wells as Walter in “May We? Oui, Mais...” by Byfleet Players.
Winner: Bob Wells.

Adult Special Mentions : The Nomads for their set in “Seafood Lasagne” ; Pirbright Players for their set in “One Wedding and a Dream” ; Heath Players for their set in “A Respectable Funeral”; Ellie Driscoll as Ellie MacPherson in “Spin to Win” by ATG Drama Group.

All Awards were presented on Saturday 17th by Sir Michael Caine CBE, following the re-performance of “The Trial” by Therfield school and “A Dog’s Life” by The Guildburys.

A big THANK YOU from all members of the Organising Committee to all participating groups for making it a really enjoyable Festival. We are very proud of you!
